The GTCC Alumni Association was officially reactivated
in April 2006. Since then, we have made excellent strides in becoming a dynamic
organization. And there is still much left to be done. If you are a former student
of GTCC or a member of our retired faculty and
staff, we want you to become involved in the GTCC Alumni Association.
The Alumni Association Board of Directors
meets the third Tuesday of each month. All interested alumni are encourage to attend
these meetings. They begin at 6 p.m. and are held on the ground floor of the Medlin
Campus Center on the Jamestown Campus.
In addition to seeking members of the Board, we
need your help with our committees. We hope you will consider volunteering for one
or more of the following Association standing committees. These committees are charged
with deciding the direction of the Association and making our plans a reality. The
Chair of the committee(s) you choose will contact you concerning future meeting dates and locations. Thanks in advance.
Alumni Association Committees –
please select the committee(s) you want to volunteer with. Your name and contact
information will be forwarded to the appropriate committee chair.
Alumni Garden Committee: Design, plan,
facilitate planting of Garden located between Davis Hall and Health Careers. Work
with college grounds department to maintain the Garden as one of the most beautiful
places on campus. Plan and organize “Tree of Knowledge” campaign as well as tree
lighting ceremony.
Brick Campaign Committee: Determine pricing
of bricks. Advertise brick program to alumni. Plan unveiling of bricks at appropriate
time.
Newsletter Committee: Contact alumni for
submissions to newsletter. Determine appropriateness of submissions and verify content
as needed. Compile submissions in appropriate categories and provide all approved
submissions to GTCC Office of Alumni Affairs. The Office will assume responsibility
for formatting and publishing the newsletter, generally in electronic form. It will
also be uploaded to the alumni website.
Concert and Lecture Series Committee: Assist
in planning and organizing Alumni Concert and Lecture Series. Determine appropriate
featured artists. Volunteer at events – collecting tickets, directing attendees,
etc.
Volunteer Activities Committee: Determine
appropriate volunteer activities for the alumni to engage in. Coordinate volunteer
hours and schedules. Promote volunteer activities to all alumni.
Alumni Association Board of Directors:
Oversees all activities of Alumni Association. All Committee chairs are automatically
members of the Board. The Board is seeking at large members to serve as the voice
of the alumni, determine the direction of the Association, promote the Association
and its works.
The Alumni Association encourages any GTCC academic department or student organization
to consider forming an Alumni Association Chapter. An Association Chapter is an
excellent way for former students from the same academic discipline or student organization
to reconnect with their classmates and club friends. Information on forming a chapter
is available from the Office of Alumni Affairs. Each Chapter Chair will automatically
be a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, so that the board can
provide assistance in coordinating and funding all alumni activities.
