How To Register

In Person

  1. Come to the Jamestown Campus
  2. Go to the Medlin Campus Center
  3. Go into the Assessment Center
  4. Take the reading test for EMT and make a 65 or higher (Most students finish in 30-45 minutes.)
  5. Come back out into registration and tell them you want to register for EMS 3044 and whatever section number you choose.
  6. Go to the cashier and pay $193

This will complete your registration.

Then make sure you have your book(s) for the first day of class.

*GTCC Student ID will be required on the first day of class.

Online for CPR Only

  1. Go to WebAdvisor
  2. Click on Continuing Education
    Click 'register and pay for Continuing Education Classes"
  3. Enter the Course Code No. ONLY (example: SEF-3001-TA3 must use dashes) and click "Submit" **Do not enter any other search criteria.
  4. Put check mark under "Select" column by the class you want and then click "Submit"
  5. Fill out all blocks on the Personal Identification page and click "Submit"
  6. Lastly, fill out the information on the pay page

NOTE: Online registration is not an option for seniors 65 or older if the course fee will be waived.


EMT Classes

This course is designed to train individuals to become emergency medical personnel. The student is exposed to emergency patient care through both classroom training and hands-on application. Topics include patient assessment, basic life support techniques (including airway management and CPR), oxygen therapy, treatment of shock, treatment of fractures, management of various medical emergencies and emergency childbirth. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to take the North Carolina and/or National Registry Basic Emergency Medical Technician certification exam.

TO REGISTER: Go to the Assessment Center. Take the reading exam and score 65 or higher. Take your reading test score and go to registration. Course must be paid for at the time of registration. Make sure you bring your receipt and reading test score with you the first day of class. If you are affiliated with a fire/ems/police agency, you must present valid proof during registration and a letter from your agency of affiliation for the fee to be waived. No registrations are accepted after the first day of class.

This is a Hybrid Course (Online)

The book for Spring Semester is the AAOS Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, 10th Edition. The workbook is not required.


Medical Responder

This course is designed to train individuals to become Emergency Medical Responders. The student is exposed to initial emergency care through both classroom training and hands-on application. Topics include patient assessment, CPR and initial management of various medical emergencies. Medical Responders hold positions as park rangers, teachers and bus drivers, security officers, athletic coaches and a variety of positions in business and industries. Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be eligible to take the North Carolina and/or National Registry Medical Responder Certification Exam.

To Register: Students may register at any of the three GTCC campuses. Course must be paid in full at the time of registration. If you are affiliated with a Fire/EMS/ Police agency, you must present valid proof during registration and a letter from your agency of affiliation for the fee to be waived. No registrations are accepted after the first day of class.
