Program Focus
The Tactical Emergency Medical Specialist (TEMS) course is designed to prepare EMS personnel to participate as team medical officers in support of tactical law enforcement teams. The unconventional hazards associated with tactical operations requires multi-faceted "team medics" that are trained in not only military based medical training, but in specialized tactical law enforcement training as well.
Due to the inherent danger associated with tactical missions and training, team members continuously push the safety envelope, thus impacting operational preparedness and performance. Team health and safety are command responsibilities that require appropriate medical support in order to accomplish the command mission. The "Team Medic" serves as a medical resource for all team members, as well as an advisor for the Team Leader.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be prepared to provide the very necessary medical component required to link tactical team activities into a strong, cohesive unit.
