Notary - Workshops Frequent Questions

NOTARY PUBLIC WORKSHOP - If you are at least 18 years old, have never been convicted of a felony, have a High School diploma or GED and can satisfactorily complete this workshop, you can apply for your Notary Public Commission. This class will teach you what you need to know before applying for your Notary Public Commission. The Notary Public Guidebook (10th Edition) is required and is available in the GTCC bookstore. You must purchase this from the campus bookstore where the course will be taught PRIOR to class.

If you arrive to class without your guidebook, you will not be allowed to attend the class. The Greensboro & High Point Campus Bookstores hours are: Monday - Thursday 9:00am - 6:45pm & Friday 9:00am - 11:30am. The Jamestown Campus Bookstore hours are: Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 8:00pm & Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Please bring a photo I.D. (Driver's License) to your class.

NOTE: The classes that are scheduled 9:00 am - 5:00 pm includes a 1 hour break. Self-supporting class.

E-NOTARY WORKSHOP -Existing Notary Public will receive instruction in the newly legislated procedure required to exercise electronic notarial acts as set forth by the NC Secretary of State. You must hold a valid commission as a NC Notary Public.

The course will cover the NC E-Notary Act, eligibility and registration, E-Notary processes, technology solutions and providers (you will get "hands-on" practice), ethics regarding E-Notarizations, consequences of misconduct, security standards, best practices and departmental recommendation.

Note: A manual will be provided in class at no extra charge. The following must be with you in order to take the final exam: Notary Number, Photo I.D. (Driver's License) and email address. Please note that this is not an online class. Self-supporting class.

In the event that you need to reschedule, please contact the GTCC Notary Department at 336-334-4822 ext. 55021 during normal business hours Monday-Thursday 8:30am-4:30pm. Showing up for a class that you are not officially registered for will not be permitted, even with a paid receipt.


GTCC will make a 100% refund of registration fees if you officially withdraw from class BEFORE the first class meeting. GTCC will refund 75% of the registration fee (of tuition only) if you officially withdraw from classes on the first day of classes OR before the class reaches the 10% point. The 10% point varies from class to class. To request a refund, please call GTCC concerning Notary at (336) 334-4822 ext. 55021 or 53037. If a class is cancelled or full, GTCC will automatically process a full refund. Refunds are processed on a monthly basis. The College refund policy is established by state legislative action and is subject to change without prior notice to students.
