MCTS is a recent addition to the Microsoft Certification family.
The newer certifications have been redesigned to target and to
validate in-depth knowledge and expertise in key technologies.
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists (MCTS) are consistently
capable of implementing, building, troubleshooting, and debugging a
specific Microsoft technology.
You can demonstrate your expertise in one specific platform and
distinguish yourself or earn multiple MCTS certifications to show
breadth of expertise across different technologies. For example,
candidates can earn MCTS: Windows Server® 2008 Active Directory
Configuration, MCTS: Windows 7® Configuring or MCTS: Microsoft
Office SharePoint® Server 2007 Configuration.
Whether you are new to technology, changing jobs, or a seasoned
IT professional, becoming a MCTS demonstrates to customers, peers,
and employers that you are committed to advancing your skills and
taking on greater challenges.
This course is intended for IT professionals who are engaged in
the planning, design, and selection of Line of Business
applications in conjunction with internal staff and extranet
business customers. Their primary responsibility is the deployment,
customization, management, and support of collaborative tools.
This course will provide you with the knowledge and skills
required to deploy, configure and administer SharePoint 2010.You
will also learn to use SharePoint 2010 to manage and monitor sites
and users; secure content, manage search, configure high
availability and recoverability.
Prerequisite: A typical candidate for
this course is a senior level IT professional who has more than one
year of experience in configuring and administering SharePoint and
related technologies including, Windows Server 2008, IIS 7.0,
Active Directory and networking infrastructure services; has
experience with Windows PowerShell 2.0 and command-line
administration. Textbooks (2) included.
This course will help prepare students for MCTS exam
70-667 SharePoint 2010, Configuration.
Note: Completion of exams 70-667 (SharePoint
2010 Installation and Configuring) and 70-668 (Pro SharePoint 2010
- offered Summer 2013) will qualify candidates to earn their MCITP

This course is intended for senior level Administrators who will
design and maintain physical topologies, services architecture,
infrastructure capacity (users, licenses, and topology), farm
performance, migration, coexistence and upgrade, taxonomy and
search strategies. Course also covers planning for sandbox
Prerequisite: Completion of course
SEF-3001-410 SharePoint 2010 Installing and Configuring.
Candidates should be familiar with Windows PowerShell scripting,
Ssrver availability and performance concepts (SQL mirroring, load
balancing), security concepts and authentication methods.
