Associate in Arts (Transfer Degree Options)

By selecting the title of a major listed below, students will be presented with a list of classes required for graduation. To view your major's program plan, please select one of the transfer AA degrees listed below (based on the 2011-2012 GTCC Catalog):


Associate of Arts, General Studies (A10100) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in one of the liberal arts disciplines for which a pre-major is not offered at GTCC. Students who are uncertain of their academic major should also enroll in this program.

Pre-Major Art Education (A1010A) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education.

Pre-Major Business Administration (A1010B) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, business administration, economics, finance or related fields of study. This program is not designed to provide entry-level job skills in business occupations. Students interested in obtaining immediate employment upon graduation should pursue one of the A.A.S. degree programs in the business division of the college.

Pre-Major Business Education/Marketing Education (A1010C) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Business or Marketing Education. This program is not designed to provide entry-level job skills in business occupations. Students interested in obtaining immediate employment upon graduation should pursue one of the A.A.S. degree programs in the business division of the college.

Pre-Major Communication Studies (A1010O) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication, journalism, advertising, public relations, speech communication or related fields.

Pre-Major Criminal Justice (A1010D) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice.

Pre-Major Elementary Education (A1010R) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education or related fields of study. Graduates must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and pass the PRAXIS I exam to meet admission requirements to any teacher education program.

Pre-Major English (A1010E) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

Pre-Major English Education (A1010F) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Education. Admission is competitive at many colleges and GPA requirements vary. Admission to teacher licensure programs requires satisfactory scores on PRAXIS I and II (standardized academic skills exams). Students should consult with the four-year college they plan to attend for further information on program admission requirements.

Pre-Major Health Education (A1010G) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in health education or related fields of study.

Pre-Major History (A1010H) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.

Pre-Major Middle Grades Education (A1011A) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in middle grades education, special education, or related fields of study. Individual institutions do have additional requirements for admission into the major department. Graduates must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and pass the PRAXIS I exam to meet admission requirements to any teacher education program.

Pre-Major Nursing (A1010I) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing or related fields of study in the health care professions. (NOTE: This is not the program to gain admission to GTCC's Nursing Program. For information on that process, please call the Admissions Department and speak with an admissions counselor for limited enrollment programs)

Pre-Major Physical Education (A1010J) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education or related fields of study.

Pre-Major Political Science (A1010K) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Pre-Major Psychology (A1010L) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.

Pre-Major Social Science Secondary Education (A1010M) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science Secondary Education. Admission is competitive at many colleges and GPA requirements vary. Admission to teacher licensure programs requires satisfactory scores on PRAXIS I and II. Pre-Major Sociology (A1010N) - This program of study is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.

Pre-Major Special Education (A1010Z) - This program is designed for students who intend to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in middle grades education, special education, or related fields of study. Individual institutions do have additional requirements for admission into the major department. Graduates must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher and pass the PRAXIS I exam to meet admission requirements to any teacher education program.
