Having Trouble Logging Into Blackboard?
|
See if your problem is listed below.
I can't get to the Blackboard log-in page.
I can get to the Blackboard log-in page, but I can't log in.
I've entered my username and password correctly, but Blackboard won't take me anywhere. A page tries to load, but never does.
Every time I try to log in, I get a message saying I have browser cookies disabled. But I don't have browser cookies disabled, and this message won't go away.
I bookmarked my Blackboard log-in page last year, and when I try to log in with, it won't let me.
While I am in Blackboard, I am unable to access some of the features such as Digital Dropbox, Email and the Collaborative Tools. |

Some browsers have difficulty with the GTCC home page or the Distance Learning home page. If you connect through AOL, do not use the AOL browser. Close it and open another, perhaps Internet Explorer. Even Internet Explorer occasionally causes problems. We recommend you download and install the free Firefox browser: http://www.mozilla.com
This browser is safe and stable, and seems to cause the fewest problems. Whatever browser you use, make sure Java is enabled. (Java is enabled by default on most browsers.)
"I still can't get to the Blackboard log-in page."
Try going directly to the Blackboard site:
http://nclc.blackboard.com
If this works, bookmark this log-in page and access it directly, bypassing the GTCC home page.
"I've tried that, and I still can't get to the Blackboard log-in page."
Make sure you are connected to the internet. |

Make sure you are entering your username and password correctly.
Your Blackboard user name begins with gtcc- (all lower case) followed by your GTCruiser User name.
Your GTCruiser user name is the first part of your GTCruiser e-mail address. Typically, it is your first two initials and your last name. Sometimes -- for example, if you don't have a middle name -- only the first initial is used. GTCruiser user names are all lower case.
So, if your name is John Paul Jones, and your GTCruiser e-mail address is: jpjones@gtcc.mailcruiser.com
Your Blackboard log-in name is: gtcc-jpjones
Sometimes -- for example, if there are three J.P. Joneses in our system -- a three-digit number is arbitrarily added.
gtcc-jpjones245
Note that it is all lower case and has no spaces.
Your password is your birthday in six digits with no spaces.
For example, if you were born on March 1, 1987, your password would be: 030187
Once you are logged in, you can change your password to anything you like. But if you do, be sure to remember your new password. |

Click OK to close the Options window, and try to log in to Blackboard.
If that fails, it is possible that virus protection program on your computer is blocking the page. The McAfee security program for Windows distributed by RoadRunner has a known issue. If you have that program installed and you have a problem, try this:
Right click on the McAfee icon in the taskbar in the lower right corner of the screen.
Select Privacy Service.
Disable the Privacy Service. A restart may be required. (Note: only the Administrator of the computer may disable the Privacy Service.)If you have another virus protection program installed and you are having problems connecting to Blackboard, try disabling the program and restarting the computer. If that works, you may want to contact the company that manufactures the virus protection program and ask them to help you with this problem, so that you can continue to use their product to protect your computer. |

| Every time I try to log in, I get a message saying I have browser cookies disabled. But I don't have browser cookies disabled, and this message won't go away |
This is an error caused by a recent Microsoft "security update." It's not your fault. Put your cursor in Internet Explorer's address bar at the top of the window. Delete everything after: http://nclc.blackboard.com
Bookmark this address. Then hit enter, and you should be taken to the Blackboard login page. You can use the bookmark to access Blackboard. |

| "I'm sure my log-in name and password have been entered correctly, but when I try to log in, Blackboard tosses me to another log-in page with this message: 'An error occurred while the system was processing this login request.'" |
Try again. If that does not work, contact the Technical Support desk at the Distance Learning Center. Once in a great while, a password is generated incorrectly and needs to be reset.
"I get a different error message."
Make sure Java is enabled. Try the Firefox browser. Change the settings, as above. Disable virus protection and restart. Contact the Technical Support desk at the Distance Learning Center. |

The old bookmark won't work. You can't log in to the old Blackboard site. Make sure you access the new site through the Blackboard icon on the GTCC home page: http://www.gtcc.edu
or from the Distance Learning home page: http://www.gtcc.edu/distance
or go directly to the new Blackboard server at http://nclc.blackboard.com |

If you are using the AOL browser to log into Blackboard you will almost certainly experience problems with some of the interactive features. Even if you are connected to the Internet through AOL, do not use the AOL browser to access the Blackboard site. Instead, minimize it and use either Internet Explorer or download the free Mozilla Firefox:http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
See our page on browsers for more information. |
