Congratulations to Matthew Poston!
Matthew, a future teacher and current GTCC education major,
will receive $1900 for the year, or $950 per semester, for the 2006-7 academic year.
Congratulations on being named a recipient of this financial aid for teaching majors.
Congratulations to Brian Albrecht for being selected by the NCCCS to receive one of ten GlaxoSmithKline Teacher Preparation Scholarships in the state for the 2006-07 academic year. The scholarship consists of a maximum amount of $5000. The scholarships were awarded on the following criteria: potential success with a career in teaching, academic achievement, substantive community involvement, and financial need.
Mr. Albrecht is serving as the 2006-7 president of the SNCAE (North Carolina Association of Educators for Students); last year he was one of two recipients of the SNCAE Excellence Award, based on his Classroom Connections Service Learning Project and his GPA. Brian currently has a 4.0 GPA and is entering his second year at GTCC as an elementary education pre-major. Brian hopes to transfer to High Point University to complete his elementary education degree. Congratulations to Brian Albrecht!
Congratulations to Ann Brooks, recipient of a $1000 Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship for 2006-7. Ann was awarded this scholarship based on her excellent academic achievements and her ongoing commitment to community service, including her Classroom Connections Service Learning Project through GTCC's SNCAE. Ann will serve as the vice president of GTCC's SNCAE for 2006-7. Congratulations, Ann!
