Steps for Success

| Overview |
Step 1
Attend an information/advising session as soon as you decide to be an education pre-major. Sessions will be offered each semester, including the summer session, for your convenience.
Step 2
Complete a program application and program plan. Each student’s program plan may be different, depending on your entry-level status, your pre-major (elementary, middle, etc), your primary and secondary concentration options (language arts, math, etc), and your senior transfer institution (UNCG, High Point University, Greensboro College, etc).
Step 3
Register for sections that are reserved for education pre-majors. Currently we offer special sections of ENG 111, ENG 112, MAT 140 and EDU 216 for education pre-majors. We hope to expand these options soon.
Step 4
Attend the first SNCAE meeting of the semester. Dates, times, and locations will be posted on the website and on the Teacher Education Network bulletin board that is located outside Davis Hall 208. SNCAE is the Student North Carolina Association of Educators, a pre-professional organization for future educators! Get connected! Come meet and network with other education pre-majors, volunteer in a school setting through our Classroom Connections project, and more!
Step 5
Attend the Education Pre-Major Information Fair each semester.
Step 6
See your Teacher Education advisor any time you make changes that will affect your program plan.
Step 7
College-transfer education pre-majors should not register for any EDU courses, except for EDU 216.
Those courses are for early childhood program students and lateral entry program students and do not count towards your program.
