Lateral Entry Program
|
| What Role does GTCC play for lateral entry teachers? |
If you are employed by the Guilford County School System (or other local school system)
as a lateral entry teacher and you already have a BA or BS degree from an accredited
college or university, you may complete classes you need to meet these NC Department
of Public Instruction general pedagogy competencies:
Understanding the Learner: Human Growth and Development (EDU 244)
Learning Theory/Learning Styles/Motivation (EDU 243)
Educational/Instructional Technology (EDU 271)
Classroom Management and Instruction (EDU 163)
Home/School/Community Collaborations (EDU 131)
School Policies/Procedures (EDU 245)
Instructional Methods*
Literacy/Reading Methods*
Meeting Special Learning Needs/Exceptionalities/Diversity*
The EDU courses listed above will be taught on a rotating basis based on demand.
*Classes for these competencies must be taught by our partnering senior institutions.
The RALC (Regional Alternative Licensing Center) will provide you with a program of study that outlines exactly what competencies you need to address AND identify any additional content courses you may need for full licensure. |
