The Test of Essential Academic Skills - TEAS® Version V

The Test of Essential Academic Skills - TEAS® for short, is the entrance exam required for all incoming GTCC nursing students. It is a four part multiple-choice exam covering the following:

Reading (58 mins. / 48 items)

Math (51 mins. / 34 items)

Science (66 mins. / 54 items)

English and Language Usage (34 mins. / 34 items)

TEAS® Testing Schedule

The Assessment Center on the Jamestown Campus offers this exam throughout the year using the schedule below, on a walk-in basis, Monday - Thursday from 9:00am - 3:00pm.

TEAS® for GTCC Nursing Applicants
• May 21 - June 28, 2012
• August 27 - December 6, 2012
• January 15 - April 25, 2013
• May 20 - June 27, 2013

TEAS® for Non-GTCC Nursing Applicants
• June 4 - June 14, 2012
• September 17 - October 4, 2012
• February 18 - March 7, 2013
• June 10 - June 20, 2013

What you need to bring on the test day

• A photo ID which includes your address
• Blue TEAS® Pass from the Enrollment Services (not needed for Non-GTCC applicants)
• Receipt confirming payment ($35 GTCC Applicants/$70 Non-GTCC Applicants)

Items the Assessment Center will supply

• Scratch paper
• Pencil

Ways to prepare for the TEAS®

• Purchase a study guide from the GTCC Bookstore or through ATI Testing
• You may check out a copy of the study guide from the Learning Resource Center (deposit may apply)

Information that is covered on the TEAS®

• Reading - paragraph comprehension, passage comprehension, and inferences/conclusions
• Math - whole numbers, metric conversion, fractions, decimals, algebraic equations, percentages, and ratio/proportion
• Science - science reasoning, science knowledge, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, basic physical principles, and general science
• English and Language Usage - punctuation, grammar, sentence structure, contextual words, and spelling
