Graduation

Please see your advisor or department chair for a graduation audit, before paying the non-refundable graduation fee; you will also need to obtain a program evaluation for your audit.

Graduation Eligibility

To be eligible for graduation, you must have completed your program requirements:

  • Have a final grade point average of 2.0 in courses in your program
  • Not owe the college any tuition, fees or fines
  • You also must have earned at least one-fourth (1/4) of the required hours in your program at GTCC and at least one-third (1/3) of the major course work must have been completed at GTCC.
  • GTCC's graduation is held in May of each year. Graduation ceremonies are held every year for degree and diploma candidates. Diplomas and degrees are awarded in May and August. Certificates may be awarded after any semester.
  • The college encourages you to attend graduation, but if you choose not to, you may pick up your degree or diploma from the Records Office on the Jamestown campus during regular office hours any weekday after 12:00 p.m. on the day following graduation. Upon request, the Registrar will mail your degree or diploma if you live more than one hour from the Jamestown campus. IMPORTANT: Please notify the Records Office of any change of address, and indicate that you are a graduate.
  • You (Fall graduates, Spring graduates and Summer graduates) must apply for graduation by the published deadline in order to participate in the May ceremony.
  • Application packets for Graduation are available in the Records Office.
  • Along with the Graduation Packet you will be given a program evaluation. Take your program evaluation with you to meet with your department chair or advisor for a graduation audit. The department chair/advisor will sign off on the program evaluation, and complete any course substitution forms, if necessary.
  • After meeting with your department chair/advisor, complete the graduation application form, pay the $35.00 (degree and diploma) or $5.00 (certificates) graduation fee to the Cashier on the second floor of Medlin, and return the completed application, signed program evaluation and payment receipt to the Records Office.
  • Please retain your payment receipt until you have your degree. The Bookstore will notify students by email of the dates they may pick up their caps and gowns. Cap and gown fees are included in the graduation fee. The Bookstore also has "Graduation Invitations" for purchase.
  • The Registrar will compile the documents to certify that you are eligible to graduate
