Jeff Little and Friends Concert Will Be Held at GTCC - HIGH POINT Campus

Jeff Little Trio Merlefest

HIGH POINT-- Jeff Little and Friends, featuring award-winning guitarist Wayne Henderson, and two-time national five string banjo champion Steve Lewis will be in concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at Guilford Technical Community College's High Point campus.

The event will be in GTCC's Entertainment Technology Indoor Studio.
Little's performances include NPR, the National Folk Festival, The Smithsonian, and The National Council for the Traditional Arts, and The American Piano Masters Series.

Little, who performs with Doc Watson, is chair of the Entertainment Technology Department as well as the Creative and Performing Arts programs at GTCC. He has been a professional musician since age 14.

It has been said: "With few exceptions, the piano does not play a prominent part in Appalachian music, and is rarely the lead instrument. But Jeff Little is an exception - and a remarkable one. His distinctive two-handed style, much influenced by the mountain flatpicked guitar tradition, is breathtaking in its speed, precision and clarity."

Henderson is renowned as both a master guitar builder and a world-class guitarist.  He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Smithsonian Institution and for "America's Reunion" during the 1992 Presidential inauguration. In 1995 Henderson was presented with a National Heritage Award from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Joining this trio will be upright bass master Josh Scott.
Ticket prices are $15 for the public; $10 for GTCC faculty and staff; and $5 for students. Tickets are available through the High Point Theatre Box Office by calling 336-887-3001 or online at www.highpointtheatre.com. (There is a ticket surcharge for purchasing tickets online.)
