See the fancy text and pictures people send you in the body of your email

In a Mail Window, Click on View:
Make sure the dot is located besides HTML, not Plain Text.
To change it back, make sure the dot is located besides Plain Text, not HTML.

To a make a permament setting about the type of display

In the GroupWise Main window:
Click on Tools, then Options.
When the Options box opens, choose Environment.
Click on the Views Tab.
Under Default Compose View, fill in the radio button by HTML or Plain Text.
Under Default Read View, fill in the radio button by HTML or Plain Text.
Click on OK.

Lost your "Sent" folder?

Right click on the top folder, the one showing your name.
Choose New Folder.
Choose Find results folder.
Choose Predefined find results folder.
Choose Sent Items.
Click Next.
Take the default name, or give the folder a name you like better.
Click Finish.

Get Groupwise to come up in a secure fashion.

Right-click the shortcut you use to open Groupwise.
Click Properties.
Target should read:

C:\Novell\GroupWise\GRPWISE.EXE /@u-? /ipa-[IP address of Groupwise server--email for this value].

This way, only you can view your email, and others can look at their own email from your computer if necessary.

Folders

Create folders

In left panel, right-click the folder one level up from where you want the folder.
Left-click New Folder.
Choose Personal Folder.
Click Next.
Give the folder a name.
Click Next.
Click finish.

Change the display order of folders, or rename, or create (an alternate method).

Click Edit in the Menu bar.
Click Folders.
Click desired folder
Click appropriate button.

Sort folders

Have selected emails go automatically into folders (great for listservs).

Create a folder for your filtered mail (see above).
Determine the email address or other parameters of the sender.
Click Tools on the Menu bar.
Click Rules.
Click New.
Create a Rule name.
Make sure "When event is" reads, "New Item And items are Received."
Choose Item type: Mail.
Click Define Conditions.
In Include entries where... pull-down, click From.
In second box, type the email address of the sender.
Click OK.
Click Add Action
Click Move to Folder
Choose the folder to which you wish your email to be sent.
Click Move.
Click Save.
Click Close.

Store files wthout having to email them to yourself

Choose a folder from the left-hand pane.
File/New from top menu, then choose Document.
Follow the prompts (Select a file should be the default. If not, choose that.)
When you get to "Document Subject," what you put here will be the subject line of the message.
--You can also accomplish this task if you right-click anywhere on a blank/white area of the right-hand pane, where your message are.


Make notes to yourself that are editable after you have posted them (good for projects)

Choose a folder from the left-hand pane.
File/New from top menu, then choose Duscussion/Note

Share your calendar (or other items like tasks)

Tools

Double-click Security.
Click Proxy Access tab.
Click Address Book icon
Find the name/email address of the person you want to let look at your calendar in the list.
Click Select Address (in upper right).
Repeat with other names as necessary.
Click OK.
Select each name one by one and assign Access Rights (we'll go over this together).

To remove the person:

Click the person in the Access list.
Click Remove User.

To set up the ability to view someone else's calendar to which that person has given you rights, per above:

Click the down arrow to the right of the Calendar icon.
Click Multi-User
Click the icon depicting the two people.
Click Address Book icon
Find the address.
Click To (on the right)
If all went well, the person's address will now be listed in the address box.
Place a check mark next to the name, and click OK.

To view your Multi-User calendar:

Click the down arrow to the right of the Calendar icon.
Click Multi-User.

Change your password

Enable the Groupwise Internet feature so you can do your email anywhere from a Web browser.
Tools
Options
Double-click Security.
Type your current password in the box.
Click OK.
Type your new password into both boxes.
If you only want to enable Internet access, type your old password into both boxes.

Print multiple attachments simultaneously.

File
Print
Click the top line.
Hold the Shift key.
Click the bottom line. or
Click a line.
Hold the Ctrl key.
Click other lines.
Click Print.

Have your computer let you know when you have a new email (Notify).

An icon will be placed in your taskbar.
Right-click this icon for options, etc.
If you wish to have Notify run automatically every time you boot your computer, place its icon in your Startup folder.

Change the look/arrangement of the Groupwise toolbar.

Right-click in a blank space on the toolbar.
Click Properties.

To change the size of the buttons:

Click the Show tab.
Picture makes them small.
Picture and text makes them large.
To add or remove buttons:
Click the Customize tab.
Choose a category
Drag an icon from the grid to your toolbar and let go. -or-
Drag an icon from your toolbar to the grid and let go.

Perform many operations with a right-click on top of an email in your list.

Try it!

Archive your emails.

First, choose or create a folder on your hard drive to keep the archived files.
Then, in Groupwise:

Options
Environment
File Location tab
Archive directory
Click the yellow folder icon.
Find the folder you chose or created above.
Click OK.
Click Close.

To archive email:

Click the email(s) to archive.
Right-click
Choose Archive

To read archived email:

File
Open Archive
To return to live email:
File
Open Archive (it will now have a check mark next to it).

Add a signature (those closing lines you often see in other people's email).

Click Tools on the Menu bar.
Click Options.
Double-click Environment.
Click the Signature tab.
Choose Signature.
Type what you want to be appended to the end of your emails.
Choose Prompt before adding (this way, you can choose whether or not to add your signature before sending emails--great for when you are emailing a coworker who already knows who you are).
Click OK.
Click Close.

Groups.

Creating

Open your Address Book.
Drag names from the left pane to the right pane.
-or-
Click on a name in the left panes.
Click on To:, CC:, or BC: in the right pane.
Click Save Group at the bottom of the right pane.
Give your new group a name in the Save as group box.
Choose which address book you want the group saved to.
Your new group will now be added to the address book you chose.

To send an email to members of the group:

Click the New Mail icon.
Click the Address button.
Choose the Address Book where you stored your group.
Type the first or first few letters of the name of the group to position yourself in the list to your group.
Click on the group's name.
Click To: on the right (or CC: or BC:)
Click OK
Continue as usual.

To check or edit names in the group:

Right click on the group name on the left pane.
Click Edit group.
Add or subtract names from the right pane. If you don't Save group, your changes will be for this one time only.

Send the addresses in one of your groups to another Groupwise user.

Find the group in your Address Book.
File/Export.
       -or-
Right-click on the group's title / Export.
Choose Selected Items.
Name the file, leaving the .nab extension.
Save to your Windows desktop so you can easily find the file.
Note the Addressbook name of your group.
Create an email to your recipient and attach the file you just made on your desktop.
Tell the recipient the Addressbook name of the group.
The recipient will open your email and double-click the attachment.
Groupwise will ask the recipient which address book to plop the group in.
Groupwise will automatically give the group the name it had in your Addressbook, not the name you gave the file when you saved it.

Make an "I am on vacation" auto reply.

Click Tools in Menu bar.
Click Rules.
Click New.
Give the Rule a name
To the right of And items are: put a check mark (click) next to Received.
Make sure none of the other items are checked.
Below Item types:, put a check mark (click) next to Mail.
Click Add action.
Click Reply.
In the resulting box, check the items you want.
In the resulting box, type in your message, e.g., "I'm out ot town through xx/xx/xx."
Click OK.
Click Save.
Click Close.

To remove, deactivate, or edit the Rule:

Click Tools in Menu bar.
Click Rules.
Uncheck the appropriate Rule.
-or-
Delete the appropriate Rule.
-or-
Edit the appropriate Rule.
Click Close.
