Yes, you need a library card. Fortunately, if you are a registered student, you should have your GTCC ID card which is your library card. If you do not have a GTCC ID, you'll need to have one made by your campus ID Center. Contact your campus ID Center for details about hours and location. Community borrowers will need to provide a valid picture ID to establish borrowing privileges. Contact your campus library for more details:
• Jamestown Circulation Desk Ext: 50614 • Jamestown Reference Desk Ext: 50290 • Wendover Circulation/Reference Desk Ext: 53063 • High Point Circulation/Reference Desk Ext: 55052
The length of an item checkout depends on the type of material, for details see Library Policies
Patrons with materials that are not returned on time are assessed fines. The daily fine charge depends on the type of material. For details, see Library Policies
There are photocopy machines at each of the GTCC campus libraries. The cost of photocopying is $0.10 per photocopy. For details, see Library Policies
To search for library materials including books, use the GTCC Libraries online catalog, Find books & videos
The GTCC Libraries online catalog is searchable from any Internet accessible device.
Magazine, newspaper, and journal articles may be found in a number ways. Each campus library has a small collection of physical magazines and newspapers where one can browse for information. But, the most efficient way of finding specific magazine, newspaper, or journal articles is through vendor databases for which the GTCC Libraries has paid to have access. For details about specific databases to which we subscribe, see Find articles & more
8. Where can I fax something--is there a fax machine at the library?
The Jamestown Library has a fax machine and it costs $1 for the first page and $0.10 cents for each additional page.
GTCC students must present a current-semester GTCC student identification card. GTCC employees must present a GTCC identification card. Community borrowers (those with no affiliation to GTCC) may borrow materials from the library but need a valid North Carolina picture ID. Most students can check out an unlimited amount of library materials, however some programs have limitations. Contact your campus library for details. For additional information, see Library Policies
Yes, wireless internet is available at all GTCC libraries. Choose TitanNet from your list of available networks.
The GTCC Libraries has a limited collection of streaming videos that are related to the various educational programs of the college. The Jamestown library also has a limited VHS and DVD collection of videos related to the instructional mission of the college, as well as a small collection for entertainment purposes. To see if GTCC Libraries owns a particular movie, search the GTCC Libraries online catalog, Find books & videos
Materials that are available for checkout include: books (including bestsellers, children's books, and audio-books), reserve items, VHS and DVD videos, and laptop computers (building use only). But the library also has electronic resources that are available anytime via an Internet accessible device. These include electronic books, magazines, newspapers, and journals, and streaming videos through the library website and NC LIVE.
The most current library staff information is found by searching the GTCC Directory. From the Advanced Search screen, select Learning Resource Administration from the Department drop-down menu, then click the search button and a complete staff listing is generated containing staff names and contact information. See also Library Staff.
