The Bristol Bay Area Health Corporation is seeking a dental assistant interested in an exciting and unusual career. The position is located at Kanakanak Hospital which is located in beautiful Southwest Alaska in the town of Dillingham.
The dental staff at BBAHC consists of 5 dentists, 2 hygienists, 13 dental assistants, and 3 administrative staff. We serve a 40,000 square mile region which consists of 34 villages with a total population of 8,000. Dental employees live in Dillingham, a town of 2,400 people which is the hub of Southwest Alaska. Most of the dental services are provided in Dillingham at the hospital, but travel to rural villages is carried out during the school year. Travel to villages is provided by small aircraft that transports all the dental equipment, two dental assistants and one dentist for five day excursions. The average amount of village travel is 60 days for each dental assistant per year.
