Admissions requirements
FALL 2009 Admission Information:
Dental Hygiene is a limited enrollment program with first year students beginning each fall. Resources, such as clinical facilities and faculty, as well as approval standards, limit the number of applicants accepted into the program. Acceptance into the program is competitive. Thirty-two students are admitted into the Dental Hygiene program.
All applicants must meet minimum requirements and specific deadlines. Meeting minimum qualifications does not guarantee admission. Applicants who have completed minimum requirements must meet with an admissions advisor in order to be considered as an applicant for the program. Students not admitted to the program that wish to be considered for the 2010 program must re-apply.
Application Process: The following steps must be completed by February 12, 2009.
1. Submit the GTCC Application.
2. Attend a mandatory Pre-Dental Hygiene Applicant Information Session (dates listed in Admissions Information packet).
3. Take the mandatory GTCC placement tests, if required by the Admissions Office.
4. Have an official high school transcript or GED scores mailed to the Admissions Office (Official transcripts are those sent directly from the school to GTCC, and have the school's seal or original signature).
5. Have official transcript of all colleges or schools attended since high school sent to the Admissions Office. These will be reviewed for possible transfer credit.
6. Meet with an admissions advisor after completion of the minimum requirements, printed on page 2, by February 12, 2009. This meeting is required; no appointment is necessary. The Admissions Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday's.
