Getting Started in Lateral Entry
To enroll in GTCC’s Lateral Entry Program, you need to have the following:
- a completed GTCC application
- a North Carolina lateral entry license
- an appointment letter (or employment contract) from the Guilford County School System’s Human Resource Office
- a bachelor’s degree (offical transcripts) from a regionally accredited institution
- a program of study plan from the Regional Alternative Licensing Center (RALC)—Region 2
After you have gathered the required documents, contact the Teacher Education Academy, at 336.334.4822 x 2491 to set up an appointment for application, advising, and registration.
To become fully licensed, the Guilford County School System Human Resource Office/Licensing Department will submit your transcripts and documentation of achievement of other criteria required by DPI to the RALC for final review. GTCC is not a licensing agency.
