Physical Therapist Assistant Student Candis Davis:
After graduating with a degree in exercise science from UNCW, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in physical therapy. However, I was not sure that I was ready for the demands of a PT program. I decided to apply for a job as a technician in an outpatient facility to prepare for PT school. While I was there, one of the current techs began talking to me about her plans to attend PTA school. Before she expressed her interest in becoming a PTA, I had never heard about the position. I became very interested in what the PTA position had to offer because I could finish school in less than two years and start off making a great salary. I began researching the programs in NC and found that Guilford Tech was the most appealing because of the passing rates, job placement rates, and the reputation it has. I decided to apply and after a few weeks, I was accepted and made the move to Greensboro to prepare for the program. Looking back, I am glad I chose Guilford despite the challenge of the program!
