WHAT I DO AT GTCC

As Department Chair, I monitor any changes necessary that would require curriculum changes, faculty changes or administrative issues.

I teach MED 121 and MED 122 Medical Terminology I & II, MED 110 Orientation to Medical Assisting, MED 270 Symptomatology, MED 260 Clinical Externship and team teach MED 140 Exam Room Procedures I in the summer semester. 

MORE ABOUT ME

I graduated from the Medical Assisting program at Central Piedmont Community College in 1975. I worked for a retired Air Force MD in Mount Holly, NC until 1985. BEST job EVER!!

I continued my education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA and got my BS degree in Biology. I saw an ad in the Richmond paper about a CMA needed to teach Medical Assisting and thought, ummm, why not? I loved it and worked at Kee Business College for 2 years. I moved back to Belmont, NC and took a job at Piedmont OB/GYN in Rock Hill, SC for 5 years. Then I got a phone call from the previous department chair and - POOF - here I am since 1996.

My daughter, Ashley graduated from the same CMA program and worked as a CMA for 5 years. She went to Mercy School of Nursing at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte and now is a registered nurse.
