JAMESTOWN - Angela Dawn Tevepaugh has been
named Chief of Campus Police at Guilford Technical Community
College, and has already assumed her duties as of June 20,
Chief Tevepaugh replaces Chief Jerry Clark after 13 years of
service as head of the GTCC Campus Police Department.
A native of Taylorsville, N.C., her extensive career in law
enforcement spans more than 19 years. Most recently, she
served as Assistant Chief of Police for East Carolina University in
Greenville, N.C. for the past three years. Tevepaugh spent a
portion of her career with the Town of Davidson Police Department
as a patrol sergeant and more than 14 years in various capacities
with the UNC Charlotte Police Department.
Her extensive educational and training background includes a
bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and a master's degree in
Organizational Management, both from Pfeiffer University.
Tevepaugh was trained at the FBI National Academy and is a
certified Law Enforcement instructor. As a lifelong learner,
she is continuing her studies by pursuing a second bachelor's
degree in Disaster and Incident Management online at Western
While at Pfeiffer University, Tevepaugh was a student-athlete
playing field hockey, softball and running cross-country for the
She also served as a foster parent in Pitt County while working at
East Carolina. Tevepaugh hopes to become certified to be a
foster parent now in Guilford County.
Tevepaugh states, "I am excited to be at GTCC. I like the
close-knit environment and our college is one of the premier
community colleges in the state and has an excellent national
reputation. The college is very supportive of our
department. All of our staff are sworn police officers…not
just campus security."
As for hobbies, Tevepaugh loves anything outdoors - hiking,
fishing, camping and being on the water in her boat. In
addition, spending time with her family is a top priority.
