Dean Jones - Writer, Director & Makeup Artist

JAMESTOWN - Dean Jones, who has won two Emmy awards for his makeup effects on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," will speak at noon Wednesday, Oct.19, on  Guilford Technical Community College's Jamestown campus.
His appearance will be in the auditorium of the Koury Hospitality Careers Center.

The event, sponsored by the GTCC Communications Department, is open to the public free of charge.

Jones, a native of Alamance County and a graduate of UNCG, is also a writer and director. He was nominated for seven Emmys, and won two for the "Captive Pursuit" and "Distant Voices" segments of Star Trek.

Jones and his brother Starr, work through their own company, American Makeup and FX, in Van Nuys, CA. They live in Los Angeles.

He has produced and directed several independent films. As a makeup artist he has been in demand for such high-profile films as "Jarhead," "Poseidon," "The Santa Claus 3," and Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and 3."

The Jones brothers continue to produce North Carolina's "Original Hollywood Horror Show" in Snow Hill, and it is one of the largest haunted attractions in the United States.
