EXCELLENCE IN TEACHING AWARD GO TO FIVE INSTRUCTORS AT GTCC

JAMESTOWN --- Five instructors at Guilford Technical Community College recently were presented the college's annual "Excellence in Teaching Awards." Each will receive a trip to the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development conference or $750 towards any national conference of their choice.
Recipients were::
•    Rankin Barnes of Winston-Salem, an instructor in Automotive Technology, who represented. the Industrial, Construction and Engineering Technologies and Transportation Division.
•    Bryan Orr of Kernersville, an instructor in Computer Technology, who is in the Business Tech Division.
•    Deborah Flowers of Greensboro, an instructor in Medical Assisting, who is in the Health and Human Services/Public Safety Division.
•    Melissa Maley of High Point and Amanda Rivers of Climax, who represented the combined  Arts & Sciences and Student Developmental and Learning divisions. Maley is an associate professor of religion; and Rivers is an associate professor in English.
Several employees were recognized for the number of years they have worked at GTCC. Receiving awards were:
35 years - Jolane McCain (retiree) of High Point.
30 years - Johnnie Bryant of Jamestown, Jerry Cummings of Pleasant Garden and Amy Huffman of Burlington.
25 years - Susan Barnes (retiree) and JoAnn Buck, both of Greensboro; Kathy Cox and Shirley Sims, both of Jamestown; and Janet Barclay of High Point.
20 years -Timothy Culbreth of Oak Ridge; and Peggy Allen (retiree), Wes Koontz, Nancy Sollosi and Sabrina Woodbery, all of Greensboro.

15 years - Mel Doggett of Jamestown; Timothy Perry of Walkertown;  Aaron Smith of Lexington; Jeff Faircloth, Jeff Kinard and Deborah Squirewell, all of High Point; Awilda DeJesus, Terence Garraway, Clyde Hunt and Lisa Koretoff, all of Greensboro.
