JAMESTOWN - Jonathan Fernandez, 21, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, has become the first baseball player from Guilford Technical Community College ever selected in the Major League Baseball draft, according to Coach John Barrow. Fernandez was taken in the 34th round by the Toronto Blue Jays. The 6-0, 190-pounder, finished the season at GTCC with a .306 batting average, two home runs, 30 runs batted in and seven stolen bases. He played shortstop, second base and the outfield for the Titans. ###
