WINSTON-SALEM -- GTCC culinary students in Jamestown will participate in the Southeast Region Conference of the American Culinary Federation Sunday through Wednesday (Feb. 19-22) at the Winston-Salem Marriott. The national ACF and local Triad Chapter of AFC are sponsors of the conference.
The conference will include product demonstrations, seminars, workshops and competition among students and professionals in culinary arts.
GTCC student volunteers will assist with chef demonstrations, culinary competitions and various educational activities, according to Joyce Hill, GTCC Department Chair, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management. A GTCC team of Mara Norris, Paulette Smith, Amy Lowe, Scott Price and Plamen Marinov will participate in the Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl on Monday. These junior AFC members will compete in a Jeopardy-like contest, and the regional winner will earn a spot in the national competition in July. # # # # Contact: ROBurchette@gtcc.edu
