GTCC to Have Evening Program for Law Enforcement Training

JAMESTOWN - A program in Basic Law Enforcement Training, which can lead to certification as a lawman, will be offered during evening hours at Guilford Technical College beginning March 2.

The BLET classes have been offered only on a daytime schedule for more than 10 years at GTCC, according to Bob Walters, BLET program coordinator at the college. The two day classes will continue on regular schedule, he said.

The classes will be 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays from March 2 until Oct. 15.

Only 30 students will be accepted for the class, and this is the reason for the early announcement about the special session, Walters said. "There are those who work at other jobs during the day who are interested in becoming law enforcement officers," he said.

Persons interested in enrolling in the class may contact Walters at 334-4822, Ext. 2740 or at rwwalters@gtcc.edu.
