(Released 6/1/10) JAMESTOWN - Jennifer Noga of Greensboro has been named director of library services and learning resources at Guilford Technical Community College. She succeeds Donald Forbes who retired after 18 years with the college. Noga, formerly technical services librarian at GTCC, completed a double major at UNC-Chapel Hill in journalism and mass communications and in English. Noga also earned a master's degree in library and information services at UNCG. A native of Burlington, Noga has been at GTCC almost nine years. Before pursuing her master's degree, Noga was a benefits analyst at W.E. Stanley & Co., a benefits consulting firm. While working on her master's degree, Noga also worked part-time as an information specialist at the Educational Resources Center and part-time as a reference intern at UNCG. "I decided to make a career change to libraries after working in insurance and benefits," she said. She also was an intern feature writer for the Burlington Times-News. She and Matthew Noga have been married for 12 years, and have one dog, Shep. GTCC also recently hired Alva Jones of Greensboro as a circulation technician at Learning Resource Center in Jamestown. He held a similar position at UNCG before joining the GTCC library staff. Jones is a graduate of UNCG. Heidi Schachtschneider of Winston-Salem is the new librarian on GTCC's High Point campus. She is a former employee of the Greensboro Public Library, but most recently worked for the Lancashire Libraries in the United Kingdom. ####
