GTCC's Culinary Knowledge Bowl Team won the American
Culinary Federation (ACF) Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl
on July 27 at the ACF National Convention in Kansas City, MO.

JAMESTOWN, N.C. - Guilford Technical Community
College culinary students are national champions. The GTCC team
comprised of five culinary students claimed the national title in
the Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl on July 27. The
competition is part of the American Culinary Federation (ACF)
National Convention in Kansas City, MO.
This is GTCC's first national win in the competition. The GTCC
team also won a silver medal for the most points scored per round.

culinary, baking, nutrition, sanitation and math questions drawn

The GTCC team is comprised of Alexia D'Egidio (captain) of
Greensboro, Jessica Bower of Greensboro, Jeffrey Craddock of
Greensboro, Aisha Boston of Greensboro, and Michael Nasrallah of
Winston-Salem. Patrick Sanecki, assistant professor of culinary
arts at GTCC, and Linda Beitz, associate professor of hospitality
management at GTCC, coached the team.

In April, the GTCC team won overall in the ACF Southeast Region
Baron H. Galand Culinary Knowledge Bowl during the 2014 ACF
Southeast Regional Conference in North Charleston, S.C. That title
advanced them to the national competition where they competed
against the three other regional winners in the country.
