JAMESTOWN - Guilford Technical
Community College will host a talk by Stu Hothem, director of
content at NASCAR Digital Media in Charlotte, N.C., noon-1 p.m.
Wednesday, April 16 in the Percy H. Sears Applied Technologies
Center Auditorium on the Jamestown Campus. Hothem manages the team
that produces stories for NASCAR.com and the NASCAR Mobile
The event is free and open to the public and presented by GTCC's
Communication and Foreign Language Department; its annual Speakers'
Series features local and regional speakers discussing issues
related to the communication and foreign language
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Prior to joining NASCAR Digital Media in Charlotte, Stu Hothem
worked at NASCAR's Daytona Beach headquarters in the Integrated
Marketing Communications department. He managed a team that created
and provided audio, graphics, video and other content on a media
website for outlets that covered the sport.
Before working for NASCAR, Hothem was director of product
management and editor of NASCAR content at FOXSports.com in Los
Angeles; research director at ABC Sports in New York; and lead
researcher for the X Games and Atlanta Olympic Trials at ESPN in
Bristol, Conn. He began his career as a board and tape operator at
the first all-sports radio station in the United States, WFAN in
New York, following an internship there. Hothem also covered the
1998 Olympic Winter Games in Nagano, Japan for CBS, the 1998 World
Cup in France for ABC and the 2000 Olympics Games in Sydney,
Hothem attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick, N.J. and grew up
in northern New Jersey.
