HIGH POINT BUSINESS, CIVIC LEADER ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF GTCC TRUSTEES

JAMESTOWN - Coy O. Williard Jr., a High Point business and civic leader, was elected chairman of the board of trustees at Guilford Technical Community College Thursday (June 17). Williard and other officers will take their new roles on Aug. 26.

Williard will succeed Shirley Frye of Greensboro, a retired WFMY-TV executive, who has been chairperson for three years. The chairmanship is limited to a three-year term.

Williard is president of Williard-Stewart Inc., a general contracting company. He also has many other business interests in the area, including being a partner of Showplace, one of High Point's major furniture showroom buildings. He has been a member of the GTCC board since 2003.

Jarvis Harris, an attorney with R. Steve Bowden and Associates in Greensboro, was elected vice-president at the trustees' monthly meeting.

Susan Alt, vice-president of customer and industry relations for Mack and Volvo Trucks North America in Greensboro, was elected secretary.
