JAMESTOWN, N.C. - Guilford Technical Community College's Advertising and Graphic Design program will host its annual Portfolio Review Day 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday, July 16 at the Community Theater of Greensboro, 520 S. Elm St., Greensboro. The event is free and open to the public.

Portfolio Review Day will showcase the work of approximately 30 GTCC graduate students in the program. The event gives students an opportunity to network with the community and potential employers in the advertising and graphic design industry including local designers, advertising agencies and printer companies.

"For the students, it's an opportunity to make a connection, which could lead to possible employment," said Awilda DeJesús, assistant professor of advertising and graphic design at GTCC. "For the department, it allows us to showcase what our program is all about. It also helps us keep up with industry standards by listening to what the professionals are saying."

GTCC's Advertising and Graphic Design program was one of the original 12 programs when the college opened in 1958. Its annual Portfolio Review Day has been in existence since the 1960s.

Guilford Technical Community College is the third largest of 58 institutions in the NC Community College System. GTCC serves more than 40,000 students annually from four major campuses and three specialized centers. Learn more at www.gtcc.edu.
