JAMESTOWN - Susan Barbitta of Summerfield, a developmental math instructor at Guilford Technical Community College, will spend a month this summer in Vietnam helping children by "doing whatever they need me to do."In the summer of 2009, Barbitta spent a month helping children in Cambodia. She will leave for Vietnam on May 13. "Three mornings each week I will be working with children. The other two mornings I will be cooking in the soup kitchen and delivering food to people in the village," she said."During the afternoons I will be teaching English to the older children," she said. Barbitta is making the trip at her own expense. "Like my Cambodian trip, I take money over with me to spend as I see the needs of the children, the villagers, water filtration systems, rice drops, mosquito nets and so forth," she said. Any donations received for the trip are used for these types of things, she said. "If people want to contact me with questions or to find out how they can donate, that would be wonderful but I don't want to ask for money, Barbitta said.
