JAMESTOWN -- Jean-Bosco Ngiruwonsanga, a survivor of the genocide in Rwanda in 1994, will answer questions at two sessions at GTCC about the mass murder of at least 800,000 of his countrymen. He will speak after the showing of two movies related to the genocide.
The first movie, "Munyurangabo," will be shown at noon Thursday (Sept. 15) as part of the college's Third Thursday Foreign Film Series at noon in the Sears Applied Technologies auditorium. This film, which is from Rwanda, is about the aftermath of the war. The second film, "Hotel Rwanda," will viewed at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the Sears auditorium. Preferring to be called Jean-Bosco, he said he came from a family of 12 but only six survived. He came to the United States in 1995, and has worked for Thomas Built Buses in High Point for 14 years. He is married and has three children. He graduated from GTCC in 2002 with a degree in information systems.
Showing of the first film is being sponsored by the Internationalizing the Curriculum Committee of the Communications and Foreign Language Department, the Spanish Club and the GTCC Foundation. Showing of "Hotel Rwanda," a true story of one man's attempt to provide shelter during the genocide, is sponsored by the Political Science Club.
