Truc Trinh Receives $1,000 Scholarship

JAMESTOWN - Truc Trinh of High Point, a May 13 graduate of Guilford Technical Community College, received a $1,000 Crib to College Foundation scholarship in a ceremony June 14 in Dean Board Room at Medlin Campus Center.

Five Crib to College - Next Step Scholarships are given to college students annually by the foundation, which was established by the Crumley Roberts law firm.

To be eligible for the scholarship, a community college student must have at least a 2.5 grade point average, be attending a four-year university or college in the fall and have significant community involvement such as volunteerism and involvement with non-profit projects.

Trinh was a GTCC representative to the state leadership institute in Raleigh. The purpose of the two-day institute was to enhance leadership skills and better prepare students for professional and civic responsibilities.

Trinh, a native of Vietnam, will enroll in UNCG this fall. She was involved in several activities at GTCC, including being a Student Ambassador, vice-president for clubs in the Student Government Association, and participating in Phi Theta Kappa, International Student Association and Rotaract.

She also served on the campus police review committee, Diversity Committee, Internationalizing Curriculum Committee and Technology Committee. She was a volunteer for the GTCC Food Pantry.
