JAMESTOWN --- Dr. Donald W. Cameron will retire from the presidency of Guilford Technical Community College on July 1 with yet another honor for his 45 years as an educator.

The GTCC Board of Trustees have voted to make Cameron the President Emeritus for life, and resolved that the title "shall impose on Dr. Cameron no duties, responsibilities or obligations of any kind."

Dr. Randy Parker of Vance-Granville Community College will become GTCC president on Sept. 1.  Cameron, who was employed by GTCC for 30 years and who has been the president since Feb. 14, 1991, announced his retirement last Oct. 14.  Cameron worked at community colleges in North Carolina and South Carolina for 40 years, and in public education for 45 years.

The trustees' resolution noted that "the college has achieved and enjoys a preeminent reputation among community colleges throughout the country" because of Cameron's leadership.
