Acrylic Painting

This course is designed to teach fundamentals of painting using simple techniques to create beautiful works of art. Course will include learning different art mediums as well as brush strokes, blending colors both primary and secondary to create beautiful art.

Basket Making with a Twist of Paper!

This course is designed to teach you the basics to advanced level of basketry techniques and terms included in dyeing and weaving with reed. Weaving with painted paper is also available. First time students will start with a reed basket and can move on from there. Participants may complete 2-3 baskets in one session. Please bring to class a basin, spray bottle, small screw driver, measuring tape, pencil, towel and heavy duty scissors. There will be an extra cost for materials.

Card Making Basics

In this course students will learn the basic building blocks for creating handmade cards. Some of the basic techniques will include folding and scoring the cardstock, heat embossing, distressing your papers and many more that can easily transfer to scrapbooking as well. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to create three handmade card creations.

Chrismons

The word Chrismon is the combination of two words, Christ and monogram. Each Chrismon depicts a specific Christian element in the form of a hanging Christmas tree ornament. These decorations are made with pearls, gold beads and crystal beads strung on wire. There is an extra cost for materials. Self Supporting.

Discover Your Talent in Drawing

This course is designed to enable students to increase their artistic abilities through demonstrations and exercises. Course consists of lecture/ demonstrations, plus drawing and tactile exercises by the students. Learn analytical and visualization techniques which help translate what you see and put it on paper. Students need to purchase a pad, drawing paper, kneaded eraser, pencil or charcoal (plus small amount of black paper and white conte for week 6 exercise). Self Supporting.

In this course you will learn and practice the 5 basic skills of drawing in a fun, effective way which is inspired by Betty Edwards' best-selling book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. Intro to Floral Design

This course is designed to give students the basic skills, knowledge, and confidence to make their own silk and fresh floral arrangements. Upon completion, we will have covered different design elements, color combinations, floral care, and materials used by floral industry. Students will get hands-on instruction and consultation. Oil Painting

This course is for oil painters of all levels. Beginners will learn about painting still life and experienced painters will do still life or independent projects. Prerequisite: Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain course or equivalent drawing experience. Stained Glass

This stained glass class will accommodate novice to intermediate stained glass students. Students will learn the basic techniques for fabricating stained glass or be able to hone skills in cutting, grinding, etc. Patterns may be of students' own design or selected from class patterns and can be fabricated in either copper foil or lead. Students should bring 2-3 pieces of stained glass to begin project on the first day of class.

The Portrait Class

This course will introduce students of all skills level to the specifics of portraiture from artistic rendering to the nuts and bolts of securing a commission. Understanding Art: Abstract Expressionism NEW!

In this two-hour seminar, we will learn about a truly American art movement, Abstract Expressionism, and become familiar with the work of some of the major players, such as Jackson Pollock, Emma Kunz and Vassily Kandinsky. We will also explore the genesis of the movement in the Surrealist movement and even the Impressionist movement. It is not required but would be helpful if student has taken the Impressionism and/or Surrealism classes.
