Cake Decorating Beginners

In this class you will learn how to ice your cake evenly, make a decorative border around the cake, icing flowers, roses and pansies and simple writing techniques. At the end of the class, your cake will look professionally finished. A list of supplies will be given on the first day of class or instructor will contact you prior to class beginning and there will be an extra cost for supplies.

Cake Decorating Intermediate

In this class students will learn how to do more advanced borders such as basket weave, work with rolled fondant and how to make a small wedding cake. Pre-requisite: Cake Decorating Beginner or basic cake decorating skills. A list of supplies will be given on first day of class. Extra cost for supplies.

Serve Safe Certification

This course will cover food sanitation and safety basics. It is designed to create a foundation for food service professionals to learn and develop safe food practices and to train and engage others. By the end of the course, the participants will be able to conduct an internal food safety audit by creating a HACCP plan and establishing a safe food handling regimen and monitoring safe food practices. Upon successfully completing the course, participants will receive a certified nationally recognize and accepted Serve Safe Certification. There is a book for class and it can be purchased at GTCC's Bookstore.

The Taste of Opportunity-Catering & Event Planning Techniques for Everyday Events

In this fun and exciting course learn the tips of the trade from a catering and event planning professional. If you find yourself being thrown in to planning events for the charity, in the community, at church, or for family and friends, this course is for you. It's also perfect for those who would like to enhance their presentation skills for the dishes that they prepare. We will cover topics like, creating spectacular buffets, decor, plating and packaging food beauifully, incorporating food service into your event theme, timing and preparation, event planning fundamentals and much more.
