Industrial: Basic Electrical

Course Description
This training can be done on your site if you have the necessary equipment. The training topics and
program hours are customized around the specific skills your employees need. The following units and
their associated skill sets can be combined and customized to your specific job applications. Number of
program hours based on the specific job applications. Each skill area represents 10-20 contact hours.

Introduction to Electricity
This program introduces the fundamental concepts of electricity and test equipment. Topics include basic
DC and AC principles (voltage, resistance, current, impedance); components (resistors, inductors, and
capacitors); power; and operation of test equipment. Upon completion, participants should be able to
construct and analyze simple DC and AC circuits using electrical test equipment.

DC/AC Electricity
This program introduces the fundamental concepts of and computations related to DC/AC electricity.
Emphasis is placed on DC/AC circuits, components, operation of test equipment; and other related topics.
Upon completion, the participants should be able to construct, verify, and analyze simple DC/AC circuits.

Electrical Computations
This program introduces the fundamental applications of mathematics which are used by an
electrical/electronics technician. Topics include whole numbers, fractions, decimals, powers, roots, simple
electrical formulas, and usage of a scientific calculator. Upon completion, participants should be able to
solve simple electrical mathematical problems.

Course Length and Delivery Format
The skills taught and the program hours are customized around your employees’ skill and schedule needs.

Cost
For a group of ten or more participants: $63 registration fee per participant.
For a group of nine or less participants: $100 per instructor-hour plus a $100 administrative fee. For
example, a 15-hour program would cost $1600 regardless of the number of participants.
