Industrial: Business Manufacturing

Course Description
The ultimate goal of any manufacturing company is to make a profit. This leads to jobs for
employees, a better work environment, and returns for stockholders. It is very helpful when all
employees in the organization understand the big picture of how their company makes money
and the factors that influence how much money the company makes. It is also very important for
everyone in the company to understand the influence their specific actions and decisions play in
the ultimate profitability of the company. This course communicates the importance of
understanding manufacturing as a business and presents basic business concepts using decisionoriented
exercises built around a fictitious company: The Yo-Yo Company.
