| The Pre Professional class involves both instructional and “hands on” components that gives an overview of what to expect during your course of study in the Massage Therapy Program. You will receive detailed explanations of what will be expected of you in the various classes and details of the North Carolina licensing requirements. In addition, you will receive demonstrations of massage techniques as well as have an opportunity to experience both giving and receiving of massage. |

Massage Therapy 1 & 2
Basics of Swedish Massage Theory and Practice

| Swedish Massage is the basis of Western Massage. From the initial strokes to full body treatment, you will learn the essentials of Western Massage. Special instruction is given to develop advanced techniques, proper body mechanics, personal care, contraindications and indications for Massage Therapy. |

Anatomy, Physiology & Musculoskeletal System
Systems of The Body

| These are broken into two classes, A&P and MS. A&P starts with the function of a cell and advances to complete systems including nervous, cardiovascular, digestive, lymphatic and more. MS teaches the musculoskeletal system starting with the types and names of bones, then advancing to the names and attachments of the muscles. Palpation is the hands-on learning of the location of bones and muscles. |

Hydrotherapy

| This class teaches methods of using moist heat and ice to complement the repertoire for addressing chronic pain, spasms, swelling and inflammation. Clients, athletes, dancers and live performers all benefit from hydrotherapy. |

Treating Chronic Pain

| This class combines Western Medical Massage Modalities and Eastern Massage Techniques to effectively address chronic pain patterns including repetitive motion syndrome, post surgery and even that old sports injury. Repetition and integration of this knowledge to the basic massage techniques will help to address 80% of the clients with chronic pain. |

Business Practices, Ethics & Communication

| Developing the proper methods of communication, business practices, and NC Law is vital to the Health Care Provider. Emphasis is placed on developing a business plan which will help you start your practice, whether joining a group practice, chiropractor, beauty salon, day spa, medical doctor, or starting a private practice. Through role playing, confidence is built to ensure proper communication with clients and the ability to have clients become the best advertisement-word of mouth. |

Aroma Therapy

| This course provides a basic understanding of Aromatherapy, its history, some of its areas of specialty, safety and contra-indications for use, methods of use, how it works throughout the body and its benefits on the various systems, recent research in the field, and an opportunity to experience some of the essential oils and carriers used in this modality. |

| This course provides students with an understanding of how to use a Massage Chair for marketing purposes. Instruction is given in how to apply a specific routine of techniques, which include compression, tapotement, and friction. |
