Program Overview

Program Details
Teaching associates receive a two-semester appointment with the second semester’s continuance based upon a successful
first-semester performance review.

For two semesters of service teaching associates are paid at a rate competitive for area adjuncts
Teaching associates are exposed to distance learning and technology and work with experienced DL faculty.
Teaching associates work with a program director and full-time faculty mentors.
Teaching associates are encouraged to observe other full-time faculty in the department.
 
What Are the Program's Benefits?
Allows students with 18 graduate hours to teach at the community college prior to completing the master’s degree.

What are the Teaching Associate's Responsibilities?
Attend a two week program orientation.
Thoughtfully prepare assigned courses.
Teach two freshman courses each semester of appointment.
Work three professional hours each week as assigned to the Writing Center and/or other professional activity.
Prepare for and attend a weekly seminar with the Program Director.
Work with assigned faculty mentor.
Attend department meetings as required. Observe classes and be observed.
