An individual’s appearance communicates an aspect of professional integrity. The student shall be expected to adhere to the following dress code in clinic:
Uniform :Clean and neat at all times - washed and pressed after each wear
dresses no shorter than mid-knee; men wear white pants; women may
wear pants uniforms or dresses
Shoes: All white plain leather style athletic or nursing shoe; clogs with back
straps are acceptable
Hose/Sock White support hose are recommended; white socks are required for
men; women may wear white socks; socks must be at least crew
length
Cap: The cap will not be worn in clinic; students are to purchase one cap
to wear for pinning as part of the graduate uniform
Name Tag: Worn at all times with the uniform and on field trips
Cosmetics: Use sparingly - no extreme makeup; no perfume/aftershave
Nails: Clear nail polish may be worn; nails must be cut to just cover
fingertips; no acrylic nails are allowed
Jewelry: Wear ONLY a watch and wedding band; pierced earrings (one
earring per ear) may be worn, only stud-type, no stones, no hoops;
NO OTHER JEWELRY IS ALLOWED
Hair: Must be neat and clean; no extreme styles; hair must be off the face;
facial hair must be neatly trimmed
Grooming: Good personal hygiene is essential; odors caused by some foods,
poor personal hygiene, and smoking are offensive to the patients
Miscellaneous: Tatoos and pierced body parts (other than ears) must be covered for clinic.
Students going to a clinical assignment where they will change into scrub uniforms will come to clinical in the student uniform, with lab coat and name pin. |
