Readmission Procedure (GTCC Management Manual, III-1.046)

The student will be offered one opportunity for readmission. Extenuating
circumstances may provide rationale for one additional readmission
opportunity. The decision regarding extenuating circumstances will be made by
the Nursing Department Chair. (GTCC Management Manual, III-1.046)

The readmission procedure applies to students who have successfully completed
at least NUR110 in the day option program or NUR117 in the evening option
program.
(Students who do not successfully complete NUR110 in the day option or NUR117
in the evening option must apply for admission to the Nursing program again. In
addition, students who complete NUR117 successfully in the day option but not
NUR110 will need to apply for admission to the Nursing program again. In each case,
the student application will be reviewed and ranked for acceptance with others applying
for admission into the first semester of the program.)

Procedure:

1. Students must apply for Readmission and re-enter the program within two years of exiting.

2. The form Application for Readmission available in the Nursing office, HC 200, must be completed, signed by the Department Chair, and turned in to the Records/Admissions Office.

3. Students who do not successfully complete NUR117 in the day option but do complete NUR110 must apply for readmission. They will be applying for readmission into the appropriate semester of Nursing 120. They must retake NUR117 prior to Nursing 120 readmission.

4. The individual seeking readmission must interview with the Nursing Department Chair to review the readmission process as stated in this handbook. The Nursing Department Chair will notify the Admissions representative of a student’s departmental interview.

5. The applicant must meet GTCC and Associate Degree Nursing Program
admission requirements for the college year in which readmitted.

6. The applicant must submit a copy of documentation of current CPR training and current information statement to the Nursing Department Chair. The documentation must be valid through the end of the first semester in which the student is readmitted.

7. Selection for readmission will be made by the program department chair
based on seat availability, date of readmission application, available clinical space, and meeting of the above criteria.

8. It is recommended that all readmitted students take the College Study Skills Course prior to readmission.
