Firefighters Academy
|
The GTCC Fire Fighter Academy is designed to give the student an idea of what it is like to be in a fire department basic recruit training school. Based on area fire department recruit schools, the GTCC Fire Academy gives the basic skills needed for the student to become employed in the fire service. The Academy has an aggressive physical fitness program to allow the student to become able to handle the physical demands of the fire service. The student will also receive basic skills needed to excel in the fire service. This is an intense program which requires the student to commit to long hours of rigorous training. In order to be accepted into the academy the applicant must complete a GTCC Fire Academy Application and complete a physical agility evaluation. A medical physical is required upon acceptance and prior to the start of the Academy. The student is responsible for uniforms, books, and basic equipment.
NOTICE:
Applications are no longer being accepted for the Spring 2010 Academy that begins in February. Any application submitted will be placed on the list for Fall 2010 that begins in mid-July. Contacts for the Fall 2010 Academy will be made beginning in mid-March. The cut-off date for the Fall 2010 academy is April 1. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Academy Coordinator.

Firefighter Level I & II Certification
Technical Rescuer Certification
