Welcome to the T. H. Davis Aviation School at Guilford Technical Community College in Greensboro, NC. We are a fully accredited member of the North Carolina Community College System and a duly licensed and certificated Federal Aviation Administration Aviation Technician Training School under 14 CFR Part 147. We prepare men and women of all ages to become licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration as Aviation Mechanics with Airframe, Powerplant, or Airframe and Powerplant ratings. In addition, we also offer an Applied Science Degree in Aviation Systems Technology.
Once certificated by the FAA, a mechanic is licensed to work on small General Aviation aircraft, large Transport Category aircraft, gliders, helicopters, gyrocopters, blimps, balloons, ultralight aircraft, and experimental category aircraft…. anything that flies and is licensed by the FAA.
Our graduates have found employment locally and nationwide with companies and institutions like Piedmont-Hawthorne, Atlantic-Aero, Timco, NASA, the Smithsonian Institution, Delta, United, US Air, General Electric, and other Manufacturers, Repair Stations, and Fixed Base Operators.
The Aviation Systems Technology program can be completed in two years. During this time, you will have the opportunity to gain classroom and hands-on experience working on piston powered and turbine aircraft. You will have the opportunity to develop skills such as sheet metal repair, welding, working with precision tools, building electronics projects, aircraft inspection, and engine overhaul. Another great plus for our students…compare GTCC’s tuition rates against other schools. Tuition, books, and required tools for an entire two year program can cost less than $5000.00 total! Financial aid and Veterans benefits are available. |
