Aviation Program
|
Welcome to the GTCC Aviation Departments. There are three aviation programs - - each with options for a certificate, diploma, and associate degree - - available at the T.H. Davis – GTCC Aviation Center.
The Aviation Systems Technology program prepares the graduate for a career as an Aircraft Technician, with an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) rating. Our graduates from this program are employed by every major airline, NASA, TIMCO, and throughout the general aviation community.
The Career Pilot program enables our graduates to prepare for a career as a professional pilot through a two-year associate degree program that covers every rating from Private Pilot through Airline Transport Pilot (ATP). We also have close working relationships with a number of local flight schools that will provide the flight training necessary to complete those ratings. Graduates of this program often transfer to four-year universities and colleges to complete a bachelor’s degree in pursuit of their goal of becoming a professional pilot. Our graduates are currently serving as flight crew on all the major airlines as well as in the armed forces, for major cargo carriers, and a number of regional and commuter lines.
The Aviation Management program provides the graduate a fully transferable associate degree with emphasis on the management aspects of the aviation field. It covers aviation law, airfield management, meteorology, flight safety, small business management, air transportation, and a number of other courses designed to prepare the graduate for a career as an airport manager, in aircraft sales or leasing, as a flight dispatcher, an aircraft insurer, or other related fields. Again many of our graduates go on to complete their bachelor’s degree by transferring these credits to a four-year school. |
