Message from the Director
|
Guilford Technical Community College is positioned to provide a broader, more profound and more productive impact on business, professional and personal lives than any other institution by raising the standard of living, alleviating poverty and helping people retool their lives.
This position statement does an excellent job of explaining Guilford Tech’s role in our community, county and state. The role of the Guilford Technical Community College Foundation is to support the College by raising the funds to make the dream come true for those students who otherwise could not afford to attend GTCC.
We cannot fulfill our mission alone. Enrollment is up. Revenue is not. We need your help. Donations to the GTCC Foundation help with start-up costs of new programs, provide equipment for which there is inadequate state funding, and make possible scholarships for students who would not be able to continue their education without financial assistance. Gifts, large and small, are proof that Guilford Tech does not stand alone in our efforts to prepare our citizens for productive employment.
I’d like to share a few statistics with you which I believe help to illustrate how vital private support is to the mission and success of Guilford Tech:
We have 8,645 students studying in fields which will directly impact our economy.
This is an enrollment increase of 8% in the curriculum areas, compared to this time last year.
85% of our graduates remain in Guilford County to join our workforce.
27% of non-returning students sited "financial reasons" as one of the reasons they were no longer enrolled, according to the report prepared by the Office of Institutional Research and Planning.
