The quality of student life outside the classroom is very important at GTCC.
The college offers social, cultural and leadership development opportunities that enhance the in-class education experience.

Clubs and Organizations
GTCC sponsors clubs for students. Most are program-related, but there are general interest organizations such as the Ski Club and Black Student Union. Clubs have speakers, plays, talent shows, fund-raising activities, leadership opportunities, community service projects, and other ways to get involved.

Visit the Student Life website for a full listing of clubs and organizations, Student Services.

Student Government Association
The Student Government Association provides most of the non-classroom student activities at GTCC. The SGA is run by students and every student who pays the student activity fee is a member. SGA sponsors leadership retreats, clubs and organizations, cookouts, concerts, dances, games room activities, student forums, and a school newsletter. The SGA is a good way to get involved in campus life.

Student Publications
The Student Life office publishes a monthly newsletter for students titled "Tech Talk." It is distributed on all GTCC campuses. The GTCC Student Handbook is published annually and distributed to students each year. Both the Student Handbook and Tech Talk are funded by student fees.

Student’s Role in Institutional Decision-Making
The president of the Student Government Association (SGA) of GTCC is an ex-officio, non-voting member of the college’s Board of Trustees. The president of the college and SGA appoint students to serve on institutional committees, and students are encouraged to serve on many of the standing committees of the college. Students may make recommendations for changes to the college administration through their representative body, the SGA.
