The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA) is a statewide agreement existing between the North Carolina Community College System and the University of North Carolina. It includes the 16 public universities that are part of this system, and 23 independent colleges and universities.
64 hrs: Students can graduate from a community college with an Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, or Associate in Fine Arts degree. This guarantees admission to a college or university within the UNC system as a junior. This is the best choice for most students.
44 hrs: Students can complete the 44 hour general Diploma of Transfer Readiness, as described in the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement. Once completed, this core will meet the freshman/sophomore general education requirements at all UNC institutions.
30 hrs: Students who have met the minimum high school requirements for the university system can transfer to most university system colleges after completing 30 hours of transferable credit, with a grade of "C" or better.
32 hrs: Students who have not met the minimum requirements in high school will have to complete 32 specific hours of coursework, including six hours of English, six hours of college-level mathematics, six hours of social science, six hours of foreign language, and eight hours of lab sciences, with a grade of "C" or better in each course.
