The International Student Association (ISA) was organized in 1983. The pupose is to provide an opportunity for international students to increase their knowledge and awareness of the different cultures and customs that are present on campus and in the community. The International Student Association exposes students to different cultures, customs and traditions through spLecial events, activities and field trips. The aim of the organization is to provide support for each student and make the transition into college life in the United States easier. The International Student Association is committed to helping students enhance their opportunities for achieveing personal academic success.

GTCC does not issue an I-20 (Student Visa) for students just wanting to attend ESL classes only. The ESL classes are available through the Continuing Education Program. Classes are designed to help with basic survival skills and academic preparation. The classes are offered during the day and evening hours on the Greensboro and High Point campuses. The ESL classes are free.
Students on F-1 visas are not permitted to work off-campus except under extrordinaroy circumstances. Permission to work on-campus part-time is granted by the international student advisor only to students in good academic standing and providing positions are available. International students should not depend on part-time employment as a significant means of support.
